In the outlet pipeline, the back pressure valve should be used at the same time as the pulsation damper, and the pulsation damper should be used to absorb the flow peak between the pump and the back pressure valve. Without the pulsation damper, the back pressure valve will open and close quickly with each pump stroke. When there is a pulsation damper, the back pressure valve will oscillate in the half-open and half-closed positions, so the pulsation damper can reduce the wear rate of the back pressure valve.

For pumps with large flow and long and thin outlet pipes, the installation position of the back pressure valve should be close to the filling point to reduce the tendency of siphoning.

When transporting media containing suspended solids, a three-way (or four-way) with a pipe plug should be installed at the inlet end of the back pressure valve so that the pipeline can be cleaned without disassembly.

The back pressure valve is only a piping component used for drilling and production accessories. It can only be used in conjunction with other piping components (such as pulsation dampers, safety valves, check valves, stop valves, filters) to achieve great effect.

Selection Guide

When selecting a back pressure valve, the following parameters and data must be determined:

A. The caliber of the back pressure valve required is generally the diameter of the pump outlet;

B. The pressure range that needs to be set;

C. What material is needed? For this, it is generally considered from the nature and temperature of the fluid being transported. Conventional materials are: PVC, 304, 316, 316L stainless steel, carbon steel, etc.;

D. Import and export connection methods, this generally requires less. However, in some systems, such as food and drinking water production systems, certain pipelines may have special requirements for connection methods. Common connection methods include internal thread, flange, and hose connector.
