What is an Annular BOP?

An annular blowout preventer is a large valve designed to seal, control, and monitor oil and gas wells. These BOPs have elastomeric sealing, a valve resembling a large rubber donut, which mechanically squeezes inward to seal the drill string, casing, open hole, or pipe. The valve rotates during drilling to maintain a seal around casing and drill pipes. if the space did not have the pipe,the annular BOP can seal zero.but the working pressure only half pressure,if seal 5"drilling pipe working pressure 5000PSi, the seal zero working pressure is 2500PSI.

The BOP stack working pressure is 10000psi,the almost annular BOP working pressure is 5000psi,but the bottom flange is 10000psi for connecting ram BOP flange.

The annular blowout preventer performs several functions in drilling operations. It seals the annular space between the tubing, casing, and drill pipes.
